The game has no RPG elements, no side quests, and no minigames, but it offers challenging and punishing combat, hardening mechanics, and a vague story. As a counterbalance, though, Mortal Shell runs ridiculously well, and I had no issues reaching 60 to 70fps at 1080p on a GTX 980 (yes, I’m due for an upgrade when the new generation of GPUs comes out). Mortal Shell also encourages exploration of a different kind in its "familiarity" system.
