Installed my Ecobee 3 a couple months ago in the middle of the winter. Now, it's warm enough to turn on the air conditioned. I switched the mode to COOL and it immediately rebooted. Within seconds of showing the temp after rebooting, it rebooted again. The process repeated until I turn off COOL mode after the temp shows up but before it reboots ... 40 VA should be plenty of juice to run an ecobee - they use only 3.5 VA each. Zone valves (at least the common Taco valves) only use about 2 VA each.
